if I were to talk with her about it, how would I approach the subject, and what would I say so that I don't say something stupid?

Well, first off it doesn't sound like she is the right girl for you. To be sure though, you should talk to her about it. If this is just how she is, then you know you are not right for each other. If she is having some issues with you, then it's a good time to bring them into the open.

Nothing wrong with being a "prude" though, the world is full of all kinds of people, you just have to find your match.

curious as to how long you've been with her and what she's being prude about. it's all about trust and comfort level, which feeds off trust. additionally, it's about her self esteem/confidence. i was once a prude myself, but grew out of it by developing trust in my significant other (at the time) and my own self confidence.

Maybe she just doesn't like you and feels uncomfortable in your presence - same goes for your friend! Everyone is different - maybe she thinks you're too forward or insensitive. Rule number 1 in a relationship is 'never try to change someone'.

If you are want your relationship to be different it is up to you to talk to her and discuss it. She is a person, not a horse to be "broken". If you cannot talk to her directly, perhaps through a trusted intermediary. Either way, communication is the best way for both of you to get fulfillment from the relationship.

She has probably been taught that for her to make the first move would make her appear "loose". Be patient , go slow. As for her not looking for you, are you sure your not pressuring to fast, kinda sounds like shes not really into it emotionally.
