Why do all of the other answers assume this question is being asked by a man??

It is a good way to release tension and physically it can be like a short cardio exercise as it gets the heart rate up for a little while.

The only other possible downside is the cost of batteries. Always buy them when they are on sale.

Addicted onans, masturbating every every day, don't look fresh in their face. They miss the fiercy glow of healthy life. People misusing sexual life don't look fresh. See for instance prostitutes, homosexuals, addicted onans - it can be immediately seen that they are not allright. Sex should be "practiced" with utmost moderation. A male lion, the king of beasts, takes a very long sleep after mating. This means that mating takes a lot of energy from him. Therefore the lion sleeps that much after mating.

Masturbation is reported to be AGAINST THE BIBLICAL LAW OF GOD. In fact there is something essentially wrong in masturbation, as one's sexual capacity is not being used for the "natural" scope but for egoistic solipsistic amenity.

Many wouldn't agree in this, and in some way moderate masturbation is justifiable. Masturbating and using one's fantasy sexually doesn't do any possible harm to anybody other than oneself, doesn't demand any commitment, it gives a discharge that is natural in itself. It is true that life-germs go wasted in masturbation, but in human life as well as in the whole nature there is an appalling lot of waste of sexual germs, of germs that do not get realized into own further life.. A man ejects billions of sperm-cells every time, but only one or two, if ever, can develop further into human life. Plants spread their seeds to the winds and much goes kind of lost. Much ends as immediate food for something else.

There is a kind of transcendental meaning in all this that we are not apt to fetch/grasp/clarify. Not yet. No?

If you are a man then it is even worse than if you are a woman. There is nothing wrong with masturbation if you do not release the life force (sperm).
In yoga we know that an ounce of semen is equal to a pint of blood. Continue to release it and your health will deterioriate at a much faster rate than otherwise.

You will be an overall more relaxed person if you learn to use masturbation as a relaxation technique.

Do it to relax and you will be fine.

Do it each night just before bed to fall asleep and you will get the most benefit from the relaxation. You will get a better night's sleep.

There are no negative effects of masturbation, aside from possible wrist injuries and chafing if you really go overboard. You'll probably just be more sexually fulfilled and you might even experience less stress.
