I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved cat.
Remember FeFe when she healthy and mischievous.
Remember all the joy that she brought to you and your life.
Take comfort in the fact that you gave her the best life possible and that you loved her.
In time, the pain will fade and you will be left with good memories and be able to talk about her without crying.
You will be able to laugh about the cute and crazy things that she did.
Allow yourself the time to grieve, but remember the good times and the joy.
You, after all, were the best caregiver to FeFe, since she chose YOU to be her companion!
Time truly does heal.
Hang in there.

Oh, it's so sad when we have to lose a pet, especially one that has been with us for so long. Making the choice to euthanize our dear friends is one of the hardest choices we'll ever make, but I am sure you did the right thing by ending her suffering.
The house may feel empty and cold without her, but the best way you can honor her memory and heal yourself is to honor her life, not mourn her death.
You may find it very helpful to get another cat. Preferably, a rescue, so that you can feel good that you are saving a life -- I bet Fefe would like that too. Don't feel guilty about learning to love another -- just as parents can love more than one child, you can love another dear pet without dishonoring Fefe's memory. In fact, to my way of thinking it is a way to honor her and the time you had together.
I'm sure Fefe had a wonderful nice long life with you. Good luck and take care of yourself.

You will never get over her. Remember the time you had with Fefe and all the memories u made. She will always be in ur heart. If you are a true animal lover there is nothing you can do to get over her but let time go by and it will get easier. 2 Years ago we thought we were gonna have to put our 5 year old to sleep do to not being able to afford surgery but the veet worked with us and now we found out in January he has asthma and they normally only live about 5 years with it. Its very tragic when an animal passes on to pet heaven. My prayers are with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. And I just wanted to say that I am so *impressed* by your ability to do one of the hardest things there is, by taking Fefe to the vet for a gentle passing, instead of just leaving her to suffer. You gave her a great gift.
I don't think you can "get over" a beloved pet's death. The best you can do is move on, and with time and (when it's appropriate) a new pet, you find new joys to distract you from what you lost. It helped me to get some special frames and frame my favorite pictures of my kitty, when I had to let her go.

sounds to me like Fefe had a long life for a cat..
I am sure you do miss her but you must realize that death is a natural thing.. at least she didnt die alone or after being hit by a car or you simply "lost her" never to know her fate...
you will never get over her.. she was your first pet.. the only thing you can do is to get a new cat in her memory - preferably a rescue from the shelter or donate money to a shelter in her memory

To love and care for a dear pet for 16 years and then to lose it is a very wrenching, painful experience and unfortunately one that all pet owners usually have to face in their lives.
It hurts so much and the weight of the pain does lessen with time. Happy memories of your life together with your cat will replace that pain.
If you get some Ignatia from a health foods store and take one 30C dose it will help lift the heavy stone from your heart and help you to move on cherishing the happy memories and without the pain of your loss.

I don't think you'll EVER get over losing your Fefe. But you HAVE to get used to it. My Stimpy is over 13 now and I "DREAD" just what you are going through now. Worse yet is the season. Try to thank God for the years she shared with you. May one of your friends bring you a purring present. God Bless from Brian&Stimpy

I totally understand, it is so hard to loose a pet. For me when I lost my dog, It took me 2 and a half years before I was ready to get another. Some people get a new pet right away. This will never replace what you have lost but it will give you a new pet to love. The only thing that will help you get over it, is time.

Your are blessed to have had Ferfe for so long and with such loving memories to feel so much!!. The best thing you could have done is sent her on her way to he purrrrrfect place in her need. There is no gujilt just very pure contentness,
You might want to jump right back in with four paws again or wait. Whever you do remember animals are all different. Yet, If you go to the pound or humane society, you just might find the right warm, needy creature in your arms.
Peace and Love

I don't think you ever really get over the loss of a pet. Maybe if you get another kitty, it might help ease the pain a little. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose something you've had and loved for so long.
