They help prevent it if used properly. Don't forget though that you can contract aids through other means than a sexual intercourse.
Try to educate yourself on the prevention of aids through the medical field.

I was watching this on the news last night. I could not believe what I was hearing. IT'S OK for a male prostitute to wear a condom, if it is know for him to have aids. I guess the ideal is that it's better for him to wear a condom then to have sex without. I don't think we need a Pope to tell us that bit of information. But for the Pope to make such a statement, all I can say is that he didn't really think his thought through very well. That's like saying if you are going to about a child, you might as well do it when it's very young like at one month. Relaxing the rules, going against what you believe as a whole. I just lost alot of respect for this Pope. I'm not Catholic but I try and respect and be respectful of those whom are. But this steps over the line, plain and simple. Yea, it is better to wear a condom if you have Aids. But condoning it does not make it right. Condemn the act and tell them if you are going to have sex, at least use a condom and help protect the other person. A condom is not 100%. Not having the sex is! I just can't believe what he said, it's just plain wrong in my book!

I don´t know how your relationship to this "someone" is but your common sense should tell you not to have sex with her! condoms won´t safely protect you and you don´t wanna be infected, do you?

i have this ongoing debate with a colleague of mine. i say that condoms don't protect against AIDS because the virus is smaller than the pores in the latex....

No, absolutely not!. Condoms are specifically for birth control, and they are about 94% effective. They do not prevent diseases in any way, especially aids.

A condom will "help protect" you, but it will not 100% protect you.
Pick a different sexual partner.
