I don't think that military service should be compulsory but I do think that there should be a requirement for all youth to serve in some way. It could be public service or military. Work in a health clinic, national or state parks, driving an ambulance, serving in the military. Those that dropped out of school would start at 17. Those that graduate would start in the summer and those that wanted to go to college first would be able to serve during their summers or after graduation. Girls who have babies could perform public service and child care would be provided. People with a physical or mental limitations would be placed as their needs require.

Yes. Military service must be made compulsory for all the youth in India. It will bring in discipline, efficiency and respect to the rule of law.

I think an years service should be made compulsary for the youth in India. Military or Civil as is the case with a lot of countries.
Our country has given us so much and a year of our life for the evolution of the same would do us no harm.

No, but some sort of public service, which could include military service, should be required.
President Clinton was trying to introduce this concept with his Americorps program, which is in sharp contrast to the Bush model of youth service, ie dunken partying and social indifference (like father like daughters).

Absolutely yes! Military teaches youth that there are rules in society, teaches them discipline, respect for authority, and the result is they will be much better and STRONGER citizens in society. You can never break someone in military service, you just get stronger, like pruning a bush, the bush counters by coming back with more shoots and growth. Humans are very resilient to stress, especially when it is organized and they know is not designed to hurt them, and the pressures in military service will absolutely be a positive influence on their bodies, minds, spirits and overall psyche.

For all youth? No. Are you going to shove an autistic child out on the front lines? What about an epileptic? How about some teen guy who is confined to a wheelchair? It's not possible.

Then you can not migrate or travel to other countries as you are exposed to military secrets and may become a threat for national security. This will create unemployment problem and chaos. This is what happened to Russia. Got it?.

NO. There are kids in this world the military would crush their spirits. But in the same breath it would be great for kids who need direction and clarification in their lives. But it should always be volunteer. This is why it is America.

No, the modern military does not want people who don't want to be in. They are more trouble than they are worth and modern weaponry requires less people anyway. It's not necessary, that's the real point.
