I would check with your airline. Things have relaxed a little. You are now allowed small travel-sized liquids and gels, but there is a maximum you are allowed to bring on. The information below is from the American Airlines' site at: http://www.aa.com/content/travelInformation/baggage/restrictedArticles.jhtml;jsessionid=V41AUP2WNICDLEAJJNBSKKEQBFFSWVMD?anchorEvent=false
"Only travel size toiletries (3-ounce containers or smaller) may be brought through the security checkpoint/on board the aircraft. These items must be in a clear, plastic, one-quart zip-top bag. See carry-on updates for more information.
Items in checked baggage are limited to a total of no more than 70 ounces per passenger. Contents of each container may not exceed 16 fluid ounces."

No liquids allowed. Yes your purse is allowed. Hard candy is allowed. Anything liquid or gel-like will not be allowed. Just take the essentials with you on-board. The rest should be checked-in.

Yes. You get one carry on and one personal item. You purse is the personal item.
You can take candy. Just be careful about liquids and things that could be weapons. But you can check most of those things.

You can take your purse and one carry on bag. Absolutely no liquids or make-up -even lipstick or chapstick. Put those in your checked bag. You can bring food but it must go in a clear plastic bag or they through it out. They go thru all your stuff, and trust me because I travel a lot, there is nothing worse then having some fat smelly B throw away your really expensive moisturizer right in front of you.

Yes you can bring your purse on the aircraft with you. As far as what is allowed in your purse I suggest that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of what you can bring on the aircraft with you in both your carry on luggage and your checked luggage.
Hope this helps and have a great trip!

You can take anything as long as its not liquid of gel. They confiscated my new $10 lip pencil as its gel like, they tried to take my 20 Gram. Rescue Remedy drops so I objected very strongly and they relented. But no water, no other liquid. Anything firm food, medications, cosmetics, no problem.
