I am guessing you are getting a dog as a present for someone and I'm here to tell you: DON'T
The vast majority of dogs given as Christmas presents end up in Shelters or on the streets. The only case in which you should give a dog or any animal as a present is when your child or your spouse are ready for an animal in the house, have asked for one long enough to show real interest, and the whole house wants one and is very prepared to be responsible. When I was a teen I asked for a horse for two years and when my whole family was ready for the responsibility my Mom and I got one - together. Animals are not good surprises either way, it helps to match individual person to individual animal.

The quick answer is www.petfinder.org.

But, think about this. Christmas is the worst possible time to bring a new puppy into the home. The puppy is already stressed due to the change in environment, and you bring it into the home during the hubbub of Christmas? It's also best to let the person who will own the dog pick it out (I'm assuming it's a gift) so that they get one they're really compatible with. A couple weeks after Christmas the shelters overflow with Christmas gifts that just didn't work out.

But, there's a better way to do this that will still get those eyes to light up on Christmas morning. Get some doggy toys and wrap them in Christmas paper to be opened on Christmas morning. Then make a little handmade coupon for one puppy of their choice. After Christmas, when there aren't ribbons for the puppy to choke on, new toys to distract away from the pup, etc, take them to your local animal shelter (or wherever you have decided to get a puppy from) and let them pick out the puppy of their dreams.

Enjoy your new member of the household!

1 month old is too young for a puppy...
cheap - you get what you pay for - free pups are full of worms and who knows what else...
it will COST MORE in the long run to accept a free pup with no vaccinations/deworming.. than to ADOPT one from a shelter who has already had this done PLUS will probabaly come with a health guarantee...

the "cheap" pups dont even have a vet check so what happens if in 3 months it starts acting funny and you find out it was born with a genetic heart defect and it will cost you $$$ to fix...its illegal to ignore health problems in pets - its a crime...

pets are NOT for christmas - this is the WORST time to get them - too much stress the puppy will get diarrhea all over and it will be scared and bite

I think you need to rethink gettting a puppy - they are a LIFETIME commitment and you need to be more prepared than posting 2 days before Christmas that you want a "cheap puppy"

No, Hollywood is part of the City of Los Angeles, on the south side of the Hollywood Hills/Santa Monica Mountains. The San Fernando Valley is north of the Hills.

www.craigslist.com

To the right click your state then click your city.
Then all you have to do is click on pets. People give away puppy's all the time. It will show you how to reply to the add at the top right but if you don't have that kind of email just highlight and copy the address and use your own mail

if your worried about the price then you cant afford to raise a puppy anyway. Give the puppy a break, let it go to a home that can afford to feed and provide health care.

chek out the rescues in your area. Getting a dog before Christmas is very unlikely. Do not get from pet store what ever you do

I think you should check your local pound, animal shelter, or humane society. At least you know the animal has been check for health issues and vaccinated.

I'd try the pound! Save a life and make a new friend.
