Son was on strattera for ADHD, Impulsivity, ODD. In June, Doctor increased it to 18mg. Was on the increase for 4 days then rushed him to hospital cuz his heart was beating fast. Now his new neurologist wants him on 18mg. Should I give it to him? Will his heart beat fast again? He is also on Reisperdal 0.5mg. But he TRULY needs somthing cuz he is so hyper, charged all the time, can't sit still, or stop talking. This behavior is also effecting parents when he goes to friends houses and I don't want him to loose his new friends at our new house. Please, any suggestions? Thanks

Yes, Strattera affects norepinephrine or noradrenaline )same thing) which is essential in terms of blood pressure and the coronary system. I took it and it raised my blood pressure and heart beat like CRAZY. Ask, persistently, for a different medication, tell your doctor your not comfortable with the effects of this one. BE FIRM. You have the right to an alternative treatment. Some doctors will walk all over you if you let them. Good Luck!

yes it can,, the effects of this drug in not fully known. be carefull, with the doseage... this medicine affects in different ways... if this dosage causes rapid heartbeat, then the doctor needs to change it ,,, this medicine is also known to cause sucidial thoughts,,, about 1%
please keep a close eye on the drugs that is given to your son,,, do not let them keep putting more drugs on him... unless he needs ,,, some doctors today load these kids full of drugs... terrible.. you hang in there ,,,,,
the greatest medicine your son can have ,, is your love and concern.. you are going to be ok .. smile
