I don't agree that women take longer to get over a relationship. I believe it's evenly split between the sexes. It depends on the individual and how they handle the situation emotionally.

I've seen cases where men have failed to let go of a relationship 20 years after it ended.

Each individual handles this type of situation differently.

Capone is quite right. An extension of this is my experience: I wanted someone for a life partner, and I could pick and choose and have the highest standards because there was never any shortage of women who found this appealing. I was never interested in short-term relationships, but thet were there for the taking if I had. EDIT: Pregnant Christian: good point, as usual, and Rio is correct too. Artsyk, I think you are making a big assumption when you categorically state that women are more mature: being emotive does not equate to amturity, and I think you fail to see the number of guys who want a proper relationship and the number of girls who just want sex. EDIT 2 I think women are not winning: men stay away from marriage and long term relationships in greater numbers than ever, making men who seek such relationships quite sought after. There may be a claim that women have the control here, but think it is an illusion.

Because women have more emotions then men do. And she will grieve for a minute and then go out and start dating again and as soon as she gets over him he normally comes back talking about oh I made a mistake and I want you back. But other than that she is going to need a couple of days or maybe a couple of weeks all depending on how long you were together.

When growing up, (usually) men are taught not to have emotions, while women celebrate theirs. So, when something as emotionally difficult as breaking-up happens, men have already had training on how to "get over it". Not to say that they don't hurt, they just try not to express it or dwell on it. Sometimes they go as far as jumping into a "rebound" relationship to prove that they are over the relationship.

Because women are very emotional and most of them take relationships seriously. Men hide thier emotions and think that jumping into a new bed will help them grieve.

men are less sentimental then women are, also, I think thats why they tend to be the reason a lot of relationships fail because they dont take the time to grieve over someone...They just head right into the next relationship...Then it becomes a rebound thing.

Most men are shallow without any deep emotions, only concerned with the here and now.
Women on the other hand have feelings that run deep, plan for the future and for the welfare of their partner.

Because women care more deeply and we're always hoping there's more to a relationship than what the man is.

Stick around here. There's plenty of men crying about broken relationships, too.
