I read of a study that people take a much longer time to get out of a parking space when a car is waiting to take it vs when there is no car waiting. I have a perception that people slow down on purpose.

Well I don't know who they tested, but I for one still will scurry across rather than just walking on across...AND I am pregnant! I may not be as fast as they want me to, but I try. And I agree w/ the other girl on this one, you have to back out slowly when someone is waiting for fear of hitting them!!! Havea Great Holidays and God Bless!

When it comes to pedestrians crossing, most of them seem to hurry for me (as I hurry for them). I couldn't say about the parking space--I find it rude to wait for a parking space unless someone is in the process of backing out. I try to find other spaces (of course, I'm not so lazy that I won't park toward the back of the lot and walk a few extra feet). HOWEVER, because I find it so rude, if I know people are waiting for my space, I often go slower to piss them off (I'm not so righteous that I'm never vengeful).

No, I just think sometimes our perception can distort things. Take for example when you are in a rush and you hit every red light and then every car seems as if they are going slow. Maybe sometimes people do, but usually not. It's nice of you stop for people crossing. DEfinately not one of the things you will regret on your deathbed.

I find it that it goes both ways. I always go quickly and wave*as a gesture of thanks go the people whom stopped*.There arn't alot of people that do stop at cross walks in front of stores to let people cross anymore theses days. I do stop for people. And because people are stopped, others think that they have all the time in the world to cross because they have the right of way.

I think it just seems that way. But why would someone want to break their neck running across the street if they don't have to? That's a no-brainer. I would walk slower, too.

I and people I know DO NOT GO SLOWER... I always hurry so to not waste anyone's time. I appreciate others not wasting mine and I beleive in that golden rule of do unto others.

You are wrong on this one. I slow down so I don`t accidently hit them because they are up my a s s while I am trying to back up.
