If you want a career where you work with the public (health care, social work, retail sales, etc) then Spanish would be the best, because Spanish speakers are the largest group in America who are not fluent speakers of English. It is also an easy language to learn.
If you want to work in international business, then Chinese would be best. Most Germans in business are fluent in English. Be warned, though, that Chinese is quite possibly the hardest language in the world to learn.

If you go to a job website like monster and search using German or Spanish or Chinese as a search term, as well as German bilingual etc., you will see that the jobs for German pay better than those for Spanish. I haven't tried it with Chinese.
Also in terms of Spanish speaking opportunities in the US, would you, as an employer, prefer to hire someone who grew up speaking two languages. (Spanish speakers who speak Spanish at home and English at school and become fluent in each) or someone who didn't start learning Spanish until high school or later?
In terms of future job prospects, German or Chinese may be the better option. In terms of job prospects this week, Spanish will probably help more.

There more than a billion Chinese-speaking people in the world, and China is becoming a more and more important player in the world economy. If you are interested in travelling or living in Asia, learning Chinese would be an excellent move.
On the other hand, learning Spanish will lead to many opportunities in the US and in North America, since Spanish-speaking residents are the fast growing segment of these countries.

It depends on what line of work you are pursuing and where you might decide to live in the world. Spanish is a relatively easy language to learn and sure fun places to visit the countries that speak this beautiful language.

I would say Spanish. More countries and more people speak it. German is only really used in Germany and Austria (and maybe in a few old German colonies).
