No. The real reason that Bush invaded Iraq was because Karl Rove convinced him that to be able to win a second term, he would have to have an "external war" (outside the country) to rally his supporters and try to convince everyone to get behind the President in times of war. Iraq was a good target, but the oil wasn't the reason because there were studies before the invasion showing that the Iraqi oil would be a money-loser for many years after the invasion. There may have been some element of finishing what his daddy started, and the fact that Saddam had tried to kill Bush Sr., but the main reason for Iraq was it was doable, with an unpopular leader.
It did get Bush elected, but barely, and it lost him control of Congress the second time around since he and his staff botched it up so badly.

Yes it was oil. It has been proven. Basically what happened was Saddam began to sell his oil in Euros which damaged the US economy and saw a rise in oil prices. Basically the US had to pay $1.3 dollars for 1 Euros worth of oil. This was extremely damaging to the US economy and the dollar which relies on oil to keep afloat.
After the invasion, guess what happened? That's right, the Iraqi oil was suddenly being sold in Dollars again and was cheaper for the US to buy.
Now comes the interesting bit. Iran has began to trade oil in Euros, to Iranian oil will cost the US more money. And guess who wants to follow suit. Chavez of Venuzuela. I hope other oil producing countries follow suit as the dollar is becoming weaker and weaker against the Euro and oil prices are going to rise in the states.
Will there be further petro wars in these two countries? Probably. Would these wars cost more lives than Iraq. Definitely!

Of course it's oil, but they tell us it's to fight terrorism, or (laugh!) to spread democracy. A better question might be, why didn't America invade North Korea (they have nukes). Better still, why not invade China? Answer: they knew Iraq had no weapons and would be a push-over... so: get in, get oil, and pretend "We're fighting terrorism." Typical bully-boy tactics. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. If they were so concerned about terrorism or the Kurds, why didn't they invade 20 years ago?

Not just the oil there was also some unfinished business because Bush's father ALSO invaded Iraq don't forget, and left the job undone. So the Bush family were out to "GET" Saddam.
After 9/11, it was apparent that America wanted to whup someone's a ss for it, and who could blame them. Saddam was a perfect target.
The Halliburton Corporation were also licking their greedy lips, thinking about all the rebuilding contracts.
So it wasn't JUST about oil, not by a long way. But it's noticeable that they did not bomb the Ministry of Petroleum in Baghdad, during their "shock and Awe" fusillade when so many innocent women and children were blown to pieces.

How could anyone believe it was for oil? Look at the price of gasoline. Do you think our politicians are trying to get us cheap oil? We have oil in this country. Our politicians have locked it up and made us dependent on OPEC (which is really the big oil companies).
I think the primary reason for the invasion is to further our subservience to the UN. How can American military be used to invade a foreign nation without a declaration of war, to enforce a United Nations directive? Is this the action of a sovereign nation?
I believe that is the primary reason for the invasion. Other reasons include more "anti-terrorism" attacks on our freedoms as the terrorists continue to attack us.

They listened to the UN b!tch about it for 2 years and since noone else would do anything CONGRESS and Bush declared war. (Thats right, it wasnt "Oil Hungry Bush", it was the UN and Congress mostly, Bush did push for the war but he actually had little to do w/ the situation until after we invaded). We invaded because Saddam ignored 27 UN sanctions that were pointed directly at him, and after Iraq got a shipment of petrolium (Guess what thats used for) he wouldnt let any weapon inspectors from the US or UN in his country. Whats that tell you? So we actually had a decent reason for going in, along w/ spreading democracy in the Middle East.

Hmm and look at all these iggnorant people above me saying "Oil"; look it up, we've never bought or gotten one drop of oil from Iraq since 2003.

Because Saddam was too ambitious and the U.N. was too slow
in carrying out its resolutions. Oil and nuclear bombs were of
course part of the reasons for the invasion. If America didn't
Israel would probably have to take out any nuclear threats by its
neighbors. Lunatics like Saddam, the Islamic militants and the
religious Islamaic groups all leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I have only praise for the Americans even though they have a
retard for a Prez. but he's learning how to deal with the lunatics.
