Relax, enjoy the relationship and you will find that your shyness will slip away. Do not judge yourself so harshly, your doing nothing wrong. Your making the situation awkward by worrying so much about it, stop worrying and have some fun.

OK, I am in my 30's now, but when I was 21 I was approached by a woman in her 40's while bouncing at a bar I worked at. I was 100% flattered. And ended up dating her for a long time. If you didnt know, younger men love the idea of an "older" woman. They think, and are right, that older women are more expereinced than younger ones. You also have your head on more right than a 21 y/o woman.
Go for it. Dont be shy at all. Remember too that guys are more shy when it comes to meeting women. So use the age advantage remember you are the older one, you know what you want out of life and are more experienced. So show him you are and go after what you want.
In terms of the age diff, again age is just a #. PEople are more open to gaps in age in relationships these days. It is very vogue today to be with a younger man.
Good luck!

This is tricky. I hate to sound like an ***, but I attract older women. For some reason I can't attract anyone my age or younger, I'm 26. In the past, I've dated someone who was 36 and I've had women approach me who were in their mid 30's before in the past. My current girlfriend is 2 years older than I am and she notices that older women tend to look at me much more than younger women do.
So, to answer your question. This is tricky, and it depends on the guys' tastes. Some guys like older women some don't.
How to overcome shyness in approaching a younger man...
the best way to buildt confidence is to work out at a gym for two weeks, 10 days out of 14 will do it. then your shyness will be gone.
And don't worry about it. :-)

Just like being in junior high all over again. Isn't great! Sounds like the young guy has awoken some feelings that have been lying dormant for a while.
I would think you are probably being harsh on your self because you have no idea how you will explain this to someone. Such as your mom, brother, best friend, or whoever.
Does he notice you?

that's very much okay, really.
you should be more confident now that youre much older... George Clooney said that women are sexiest in their 30's because they have become more witty, and wisdom is always sexy.

If he is 18+ and into you, go for it. Just ask him out for coffee and see what happens.
