it all depends on the girl. If she's an active girl and will spend a ton of time with a dog, then a good one might be a weimariner. If you just want a family dog, a beagle or a cocker spaniel make excellent pets. It also depends on where the dog will be kept, (inside or out). Also, how much room there is for the dog to run and excercise. Lots of factors to consider before getting a dog. Plus, at 14 hormones become prevelant and before long, a dog won't be first on her list of things to take care of :)

Does she want a big or small dog? If she goes to college in 4 years who will take care of the dog? these are all questions you need to ask yourself. If she will be going to school you might want a dog that could do well with or with out alot of love. A Lab is a great big dog. A small dog that needs a lot of attention is a Shitzu. If I were to chose I would say a Lab would be great because the dog can protect her. P.S If you have another dog you might want to get professional help. P.S.S Girl dogs are calmer and most likely easier to train.

it depends on if she wants a small dog or a large one, I would suggest getting one that needs a home and is hopefully house trained, getting a puppy for a 14 yr old will lead you to doing most of the work, between training and house breaking it will be alot. 14 yr olds have their own life and they may not want to do everything. there are plenty of shelters with dogs that maybe a couple of years older and still need training but they really need a home. not to mention making the donation to the shelter to get a dog can be considerably less than buying a puppy. good luck!!

It depends. Funny to say but small dogs are i style now. Paris and Jessica both have tiny dogs. But dont ever get a "pit bull"They will kill or hurt someone very badly. If u are thinking of a small dog get a a nice, but not one that is scared or at the corner of the cage, that means that they will not be friendly if they are scared.

But if u are considering a big dog dont get an aggressive one, they tend too bite. One of the best bigger dogs would have to be a "golden retriever".

I Hope This Helps!

I would get a small dog. A cute one. Like a poodle or chihuahua. Or a mutt that's really cute. But I would get her a small dog with short or curly hair so it doesn't shed. I weould also make sure to get a small dog so she can carry it around and stuff. Teenagers love cute little dogs. I know a person who's a teenager who got a little dog and she wants more because they're so cute. She'll love it. But if she sort od tomboyis I would get her a beagle. They are cute, pretty small and not to girl. Also yorkie poos are very popular little dogs.

Any type of dog, but you'll want a VERY friendly active one. I think a golden retreiver or Lab might be nice, but a small dog like a yorkie or a dashhund (no clue how to spell it) might be nice too. Good luck on finding the right dog.

I agree with the toy poodle. I have two and they are sooooo smart. The only issue would be grooming. The do need a lot of grooming. Mine takes a little less because I don't like the traditional Poodle look so I cut them the same length all over. You can do this yourself (walmart or any pet store sells sheers) or petsmart will groom them for pretty cheep!

a bichonfrise, maltese or a poodle are low on the allergy scale you might take that into consideration. Plus if she lives in an apartment or a small house they don't take up much room.
Consider adopting a dog on petfinder.com that is where I found mine.
