I'm sure this has been asked before, but what exactly do you consider an emotional affair? And is it technically considered cheating if there is no sex?

An emotional affair is when you really fall for that person emotionally--heart and soul--you think about them constantly--almost obssessively.Even if there is no sex--it has a profound and adverse affect which I consider technically cheating in a way--yes--because of the emotional stress.

Yes, it is still cheating. It is an emotional bond between two people where one or both are attatched that is more than friends but less then boyfriend and girlfriend. Basically, you have broken your partner's trust. Read through Answers, and you will get a clear idea what are emotional affairs.

an emotional affair is a lot of things. it can be when two people are mentally attracted to each other as well as when they really enjoy flirting, there is sex talk but not sex. They both have feelings for each other....Yes its still cheating, if you are happy with the one you are with there is no need to get into an affair of any kind

I would define an emotional affair as a deep profound connection to another person - no physical. Longing, wanting, thinking, dreaming, wishing, hoping but in the end - alone.

If you have a relationship with someone - I absolutely think that emotional relationships are a betrayal. It takes emotion and feelings away from your relationship.

Not my intent to sound preachy really but my ex had an emotional relationship and I found it devastating..........and every time he justified it by saying "well, it isn't physical" I lost a little more spirit. It is a betrayal.

There are always internal conflicts and feelings for other people. When you daydream about someone alot and feel as if you would like to leave your significant other for this person, or if you have spoken to this person about it and they feel the same way I think that would be in the emotional affair category. Nope, not cheating. But if you are hugging them all the time or even holding hands in an affectionate way, then yes.

It's when two people express their feelings of love and passion with words, stimulating the emotions. I don't think it is cheating but it's sure isn't loyalty.
