OK, we DO NOT have our own bible. We read the Holy Bible. We study it, we teach it, be believe in it, as long as it is translated correctly. That is why we use the King James version, because it is the one that has been translated the least amount of times, so the least amount of mistakes from translations over the years. we also use the book of mormon, which is a record of the saints from the northamerican continent. Read it sometime. You would be suprised. And by the way, the events in book of mormon, the main historical events, coincide with the records in the book of mormon, and the lands that are described, locations of cities, ect. all coincide with modern discoveries. But that is not the reason I believe in this church. I know it is true. I prayed about it myself, and fasted, and have gained a testimony of my own. dont be so quick to mock what you dont understand. I challenge everyone who doesnt know the right information, to take a look at our OFFICIAL site, lds.org

I do not mock you, but I challenge you to read a book called the course in miracles. It to is a revelation that is far newer than any that you have spoken of so it has been fiddled with a lot less.

I have read your book, now you read mine.

There is absolutely no excuse for people mocking your religion. Certainly, a Christian would not want to do that. There is a chasm of difference between mocking and discussing. I do not mock you and I am sorry that others do. Such behavior is untenable.

Am I right that Latter-Day Saints believe the Bible to be God’s word but believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God too? Since that is so, these two books must teach the same thing for salvation since anything different would violate Galatians 1:8. The official site I just visited has a section called basic beliefs. I understand that one basic belief is that before humans were born, they lived as spirit creatures with the heavenly father. Does the Book of Mormon teach this as well? And if so, doesn’t that contradict the Bible which teaches that man was created on earth and from earth?

Isn’t it understandable why many would be confused when they are told of things in the Book of Mormon that contradict things they have been taught in the Bible? How can these two teachings be reconciled?

Your comment about the King James Bible being translated less than modern versions is incorrect. All good Bibles, such as the NIV or the Good News Bible, are all translated from the original texts, as was the KJV. The difficulty that arises is sometimes a person copying a book or letter would make a small mistake, which was then copied by the next copyist. Because of this, it is essential for translators to get the most accurate texts they can. I believe there is a lot of debate about which texts are the best one to use, but the differences between them are usually very small.
So, for a translation of the New Testament, the process is Greek to English regardless of whether it is KJV or the Good News Bible (Second Edition) like I use.

I hate to say it, but you are wasting your breath (or typing fingers here I guess). It is frustrating trying to convince people what we, the actual members, believe and then they call us liars. Hi, we are the members, we know what we believe and don't! I know how you feel...

The most important thing is you know the truth and just try to live it the best you can.
Ever heard the saying "A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.."
Just endure and have comfort in knowing the eternal blessings of the gospel.

***And Hannah - they DO teach the same thing..YOU just interpret it differently than we do. MAN was created, as in the BODY on earth...our spirits we created long before our bodies. Take a look at Jeremiah 1 were the Lord tells Jeremiah he knew him before he formed him in the womb...

You said (essentially) that there is proof that the BOM is true--with lands, locations of cities, and modern discoveries. In all of my research, I am yet to find a scrap of evidence that supports your statement abut the Book of Mormon.

PLEASE, add onto your question or e-mail me with where I can find this information.

Thanks!
