A sponge mix may go a bit funny if you leave it too long, and some recipes using a lot of flour will run into difficulties with the flour molecules growing - something to do with the gluten - but if it's a nice fruit-laden Christmas cake type of thing it will easily stay overnight in the mixing bowl so long as you cover it with a lightly dampened tea-towel.
Happy Christmas!

You actually SHOULD leave it to stand for a little while if you're wanting the most dense, even, unbubbled cake you can get (normal batter, like pound cake or box mix.)

If it's something you've whipped egg whites into (like an angel food cake) it should be baked right away so the whites don't "fall."

Best to leave the cake to stand AFTER you've baked it.

I don't quite understand your question If you are asking can you make the batter and let it sit out for a few minutes then sure but not more than 20 minutes because batter usually has raw eggs in it...hope I helped you..good luck

Best not to as raising agents will start to act once moisture introduced (e.g. egg, milk). If you don't then add heat you'll probably end up with a spoiled cake.

Not a good idea. It will start to rise, but not fully so when you do bake it, it may not rise properly.
