I want to be able to record BBC 3 (or another Freeview channel) onto VHS. I have an integrated digital tv. I can watch all the Freeview channels, but on the screen where you set what you want to record it only gives the option of the usual 5 analogue channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4, C5).

I have tried going into the digital manual tuning menu of the TV to edit, but it doesn't make any difference to the choice of channels I can record from.

Been trying to do this for a year now, and it's driving me nuts. Don't know anyone I can ask who would know. Simple instructions please!! Many thanks.

Yes I know what you're talking about. It's a real pain trying to record the freeview channels.

It drove us nuts trying to sort it out, sometimes the set up we devised worked another time it wouldn't. The freeview reciever was sometimes to blame, sometimes it was the video, we couldn't figure it out. Were the scart leads in the wrong sockets, should the ariel have gone to the video first or the freeview reciever????????

In the end we decided to buy a freeview TV and a freeview DVD recorder. This way we can watch any digital channel, and record any digital channel at the same time.

Digital TV's are a lot of money though, but the freeview DVD recorders are getting cheaper all the time
You also have the option of HD recorders with freeview. These are like your hard drive on the PC, they store your recordings and allow you to pause live TV ect, but I don't have any personal knowlege with these.

We keep our Video as a stand alone player for watching the films we have already.

I highly recommend the expense of a Freeview TV and a Freeview DVD Recorder, it really takes the hassel out of the problems associated with trying to record digital channels with an analogue video, and you'll really wonder how you put up with video quality playback for so long too!

You have to connect your TV output to Scart no. 2 (AV in) or AV2?? on your vcr. Then select that input on your recorder, sometimes channel O (ZERO) OR KEEP PRESSING THE INPUT SELECTOR until the corresponding input shows. Then set your timer and the Freeview channel you want to record, Or press 'Record' The difference is that you are recording from an EXTERNAL source, not a tuner in the vcr.

you have to have your TV channel set to av and your video to av then you should be able to record your free view channels try that first if you don't succeed then throw the lot out of the window which is what i almost done with mine before sussing out the av loop.

hope this helps have a merry crimbal & happy new year.

When you autotune your TV it assigns channels found to a list.
Try re-arranging that list.
For example
so that when you press button one for BBC1 you have BBC 3 tuned to that button.
Its a pain but it works on my TV.
