I would get a dog, but that is only because I have been around animals my whole life. If you are just starting out with pets, I would go for the fish. It would get you started with feeding it and watching it to make sure it is ok, and cleaning the tank. Once you have more experience with animals, you could go with a dog. But I would go from older to younger. i.e. when you get a dog, start out with an older dog. It wouldn't be so much trouble to care for. When you have decided you are ready for a younger dog, or the old one has went to doggie heaven, :'-( then you could get a younger dog. Hope this helps! Merry Christmas! Happy holidays!

Is this a "which one should I get" question? If so, it depends on how much time you have. If you're gone a lot or don't have a lot of time to care for an animal, definately a fish. If you're home a lot and want a companion, a dog is an excelent choice. If it is a which one is better question, I chose a dog.

Depends on how much time you're willing to spend with it. Fish are easier, but dogs will return the love you give them

Feeding your dog both wet and dry food is good. I feed my dogs(we have 5 adults & 8 new pups) mostly dry and give wet food as a treat. The dry food helps keep teeth strong and also helps clean them when crunching on dry food. I have been raising hounds for 11 years now and have had no problems in giving both types of food. Good Luck !

it looks like you haven't had either. so get a fish. if you can handle the responsibility, then you can get a dog too. dogs definitely need more time.

Dogs are better companions; you can take them for walks and pet them all you want, although watching fish swim in a tank can lower blood pressure.

fish are the easiest to take care of, dogs need more attention and time.
