Well, this depends. If you have had experience with animals before, you can get the monkey (but I wouldconsider getting the dog) If you haven't spent a lot of time with animals, get an older dog, so there is not so much to care for. Maybe after a year or year and a half, you could get a puppy or a monkey. Everyone is going to have different answers, people have different personalities. Just keep that in mind. Like I said,I am more of a dog person, but it is your decision.

Monkeys are wild animals, yes they can be trained and are cute and cuddly. In the long run, they are still wild. Some are illegal to come across state lines, others are not to be taken from the wild at all because of extinction. The diversity of monkeys is very wide, so jus saying monkey sounds like you don't have an idea what you are thnking of.
Please no wild animals, and think carefully about any animal that is a challenge! Good Luck and have fun with a people oriented animal.
