Carpet or wood floors?

As long as you take care of it, wood floors are more sanitary. Even if you vacuem carpet, dirt gets trapped and goes UNDER the carpet.

Wood floors are more sanitary because they are less absorbant. Dirt can get trapped on and under carpeting that no amount of cleaning can release. Plus the fibers in carpet can wick and retain liquids causing stains and odor retention.
Wood that has a good sealant will repell most liquids and dirt inless they are of a solvent nature.

Wood floors are definitely more sanitary and they are also less allergenic if anyone in the house has asthma it is better for them than rugs. Wood is a bit more expensive but cheaper in the long term. What ever you do, don't but that laminate crap. I am a carpenter with 30yrs exp. i installed laminate floors in my previous house and I vow never to use them again.

I guess wood floors would be. If you spill something it would be easier to clean up. The down side is that they are not as cumfy as carpets and you have to watch out for termites.

Wood... messes are easily cleaned and you can mop everything up where as with carpet germs and mites live in the fibers and you have to pay a fortune to have it properly cleaned.

Wood, because it can be cleaned with cleanser and mopped up immediately.
