Don't worry. Many of us have gone through exactly what you are going through.
Scary isn't it? You are finally starting to see the truth. Yes, sadly many people did corrupt the true word of God to frighten and control others. Still, the truth shines through in the bible in many places you just need to know where to look for it.
A good place to start is with the parable of the prodigal son. Read it when you get the chance. They overlooked it and it got into the bible almost unchanged from the way Jesus told it.
Because of this religion has always spun it as a story of forgiveness. If you actually read the words used in the story it becomes clear that Jesus never said anything like this.
It never says that the father judged the actions of the son in any way. He only responded from the great joy in his heart at the return of his son.
If there was never any judgment of his actions, there was anything to forgive.
What Jesus was telling us in this parable is a story of the unconditionally loving nature of Gods love for us. Unconditional means no conditions are necessary to be meant to be worthy of this love or the welcome home that awaits us.
Understand what this means. Your Daughter is safe, you are safe, all of us are safe. Unless of course you think Jesus was wrong.
I don't.
Love and blessings Don

Jesus IS the Son of God because He told us so. Since He calls himself the Truth we can believe his word.
Yes, there has been much scandal in the Catholic Church through the centuries...no-one can deny this. However, do NOT confuse Truth with the sins of men! If a man who is a pastor is corrupt, for example, it does not mean that the entire church is corrupt, does it?
Of course the greatest scandal in Christianity today is not the issues Martin Luther had with Church, or pedophilia or homosexuality (only the ACTING on the homosexual impulses are sinful). The greatest scandal, of course, is not taking Jesus seriously when he very clearly tells us that "my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink". Somehow Protestants take the word "IS" to mean "symbolizes". So as an analogy, if someone tells you that that baked potato on your plate IS a baked potato, someone else may come along and tell you otherwise. Now your senses and knowledge of potatos would tell you that it certainly IS a potato, but in the Eucharist, the appearance of the bread itself does not change.....but we instead take Jesus at His word. We call this faith.

Hello Friend,
You're obviously practical and intelligent. You've got a reasoned approach to things. That "feeling" you describe shows your instinctual ability to recognize Truth, is intact as well. Clearly, you love your daughter, and take all your responsibilities seriously. Just drawing from these strengths in your character can pull you through present fear and uncertainty.
You can use your sound mind to put "knowns" together in a way that answers your questions. For example, if you trust it's true that Deity created everything in existence on earth, then you can trust that biological processes on earth come from that same divine Source, including reproduction. Wouldn't that make all who are born here, the offspring of Deity? So then, Jesus had to be either a divine son or a divine daughter, if another thing you're certain of is that Jesus was born of woman. Just take it from there, using 'If...then...' reasoning with the knowledge you've already acquired, both from personal experience and observation. Commitment to the search for Truth requires that you keep an open mind and be ever watchful for it in your heart. Stick with that and arrival at greater understanding is inevitable.
Might I suggest that you ask yourself WHY you're afraid of what you're fearing? I think observing the inner revelations such a simple scrutiny stirs up, and following those leads, could speed your arrival at what you seek.
Quest on!

I believe it is faith. I have faith that God watched over the writiing of the Bible and that is why it is accurate. I do understand your ideas of the corrupt men that were apart of the church in history.
I wouldn't depend on your head to judge anything. Keep reading your Bible and fill your head and heart with faith.
you might want to find a different church. Your feelings might be stemming more by the type of people your around than your head. People can influance you away from God very easy.
Good Luck and God Bless.

No one has changed the Scriptures. We have a complete New Testament in Greek from about A.D. 350, or earlier, and fragments from about A.D. 125. We have a complete Old Testament that's over 2000 years old. They have not been changed! With study you'll learn that there are no substantial errors in the Bible. In fact, science said there was no such place as Nineveh, until they found it. The Bible has never been found to be wrong. You can rely on it.

The last thinkg God wants is for you to lose your faith. As far as Jesus not being the son of God, you are believing what the devil wants you to believe. So much nonsense today with the Da vinci Code and others trying to turn us away from God and his son Jesus.
And although the Bible was translated over the years, God guided the people who wrote it so he wouldn't have allowed them to write it how they wanted.
Just pray about it and God will help you restore your faith.
If you have questions about pre-marital sex or homosexuality, realize that God wants us to follow his word even if it doesn't suit our lifestyle...........it makes you a true disciple of God when you obey him even though you have urges.
We are on "earth" just a short time and heaven for eternity......isn't it worth living our 70-80 years how he wants here so we can live in paradise for ever?
Please pray and God will help restore your faith.

Teach what you believe is true. Not by what the bible says, but by your own heart and experiences. The bible is a book, but what you experience, what you know in your soul to be true is the living and breathing religion you can't get from any other source.
That is sonship with God.
And your certainty of your sonship with God will pave the way for you to believe how Christ was also God's son, as well as your family, your neighbors, your enemies . . . we are all God's sons.
Because your heart truly seeks to find God, you will. Have no fear; have faith and be certain that your salvation lies only in your desire to find God, become like him, and do his will.
That we know all the answers is not as important as continuing to look for them with a sincere heart. You can't do any better than the best you can do, so do the best you can, and teach to the best of your ability- God will compensate for the rest.

First, God and later Jesus said WE CAN DO ALL THESE THINGS.
In Genesis God said that Man can be like Us, Gods!
Jesus said EVERYONE could do what he did. He had either Peter or some other disciple WALK WITH HIM ON WATER to prove it, but they soon sank.
Jesus RESTORED LIFE to the dead with a touch.
Today we have CPR and a 14 year old Boy Scout can sometimes restore life to a dead person by touching their breastbone area and applying pressure.
So, to say BRINGING BACK THE DEAD WITH A TOUCH is absurd, we KNOW otherwise today. In the year 1806 that WAS NOT A REALITY. In the year 1806 only GOD could do that, not MAN. Today MAN can, in some situations and probably with God's advise and consent. And it may be crude compared to how Jesus did it, but who knows what we'll know or learn in another 300 years!
Now, that's a 2,000 year old statement of fact.

since the bible is a big book, start with just one book within it....go to the gospel of John, and read what the Father God said, Jesus said, John the Baptist said, and the apostles said, who were eye witnesses to the ministry of Jesus...it affirms at least 30 times that Jesus is the son of God. Go back to the words of Jesus and the Father, not man.... you will see that his sonship is affirmed here....this affirmation is continued throughout the entire new testament...it is prophesied in the old testament but it is cloaked for some reason.
The sonship of christ is delcared to be a mystery by those who have not thought about it enough...this is too long a discussion for this tiny page... i would be glad to discuss it further with you. I understand it....that jesus as the son of god is completely consistent with the Oneness of God.

We are all sons and daughters of God. Do not idolize jesus. This is not what he wants of you.Jesus preached that we can all be as He, that the father wants us to return to his love via our own free will and by our own freely willed decision to stop regarding ourselves as being eternally seperate from the divine which is a satanic notion and it is this idea which precipitated the fall, of which the edenic episode is simply an allegory. Redemption is through realization of one's own divinity and true idenity as a son or daughter of God, not a seperate ego, not in the absurd belief that God requires a blood sacrifice of his only son in order to forgive mankind. This has got to be the craziest and most evil idea ever dreamt up by the satanic forces. look at what Christ actually said: Love each other as God loves you- unconditionally. If you can do this you are saved, not through false doctrine.Salvation is achieved thru Christ consciousness, not worship of a false idol of a man-created Jesus figure.
