White spots aren't caused by a vitamin deficiency. They're caused by little injuries to the nail bed. They're a "Bruise" of sorts. And since the nail is slow to grow, they show up long past the time of the injury. :)

Hallo there

I used to have them when I was a child and was always told it was because I wouldn't drink my milk - i.e. calcium deficiency.

However I've done a few searches and it seems it's more to do with lack of zinc unless you happen to be a pregnant woman, in which case it can be lack of calcium. It can also be the result of a knock to the nail.

The folllowing link has some really good info about all kinds of things that can show up in your nails, plus what you need to do to keep yourself and your nails healthy and information about products. In fact it's so good I've bookmarked it!

Good luck!

Lori and Micro are correct. Those white "flecks" have nothing to do with vitamins. They're just bruises. Some people are just more susceptible than other. You just happen to be one of those people.

I have been told it's from lack of calcium. It might be a myth, but that's all I've heard. I have one now, but I drink lots of milk
