its possible and most likely.. but..
im single and i actually ignore withheld/private calls sometimes..
it can make people nervous as to whether they should answer or not or they just cant be bothered because they think it will be
1 - a prank
2 - someone with the wrong number
those two reasons are the reason i dont answer withheld numbers. tho now that u think about it.. if i 'were' in a relationship i probably would answer it.
i think if the person on the calling end was that desperate they would try more than once to get in contact with you and give you their number.
however it could be someone you know who is just very private or is too shy to give thier number away.
but also it might be likely that someone in a relationship might call 'with a private no.' so their other half at the time doesnt find out you have any contact with them.. they can call u but u cant call them so they can easily hide evidence they are cheating. so in this case u cant get the persons number until they have a break up with their current bf/gf.
and it could be the person + partner is asleep by midnight so yep they prob wouldnt answer. however i would still answer coz it might be an important call off someone.
but i also hear you can ring your operator (100) to find out the phone. no. of the last withheld no. =)
sorry probably talked too much lol.

Answering a phone call after midnight when the number is not listed is a personal preference and has nothing to do with being in a relationship. Bad things happen all the time, regardless of the time of day (or night). Plus, there are a lot a people with unlisted numbers and some that have issues with the phone company listing their name. The person may answer the phone because they know this.
In addition, with all the soldiers we have deployed over-seas, who's to say that the phone call is not from his buddy in Iraq? Or, maybe it's from his sister whom took a trip to Australia. Or, maybe the person is like me and usually does not answer his phone no matter if I'm in a relationship or not.
In other words, I have to disagree with the assessment that you and your friend have made. There are too many variables.

That's a good question because it depends upon the guy. Who knows who is calling and why--so why wouldn't he answer the phone? On the other hand--why would he?

Whether he is in a relationship or not makes no difference as to whether he'll answer the phone or not.

i think some people would just answer the phone out of curiosity as to who is calling them at that time...
