Christ did become a fisherman of souls.

Mat 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
Mat 13:48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
Mat 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
Mat 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Well it may disappoint you but Jesus did not walk on water even though he could not convince one of his Apostles of it who had fallen asleep and dreamed he did while crossing in their boat one night. When it became a part of scripture it was the thought it would be good to enhance this kind of story for its effect on the un believer. Un fortunately modern man is more thoughtful and wont believe the un believable. The truth is we don't need miracles to convince us that Jesus was who and what He is and said what he was. He has sent into the soul of all who will follow Him his spirit of truth. For a better understanding of His meaning as "I will send a Helper". 4. THE PROMISED HELPER - P.1948 P.1949 - §3 The new helper which Jesus promised to send into the hearts of believers, to pour out upon all flesh, is the Spirit of Truth. This divine endowment is not the letter or law of truth, neither is it to function as the form or expression of truth. The new teacher is the conviction of truth, the consciousness and assurance of true meanings on real spirit levels. And this new teacher is the spirit of living and growing truth, expanding, unfolding, and adaptative truth.

he did, he became a fisherman of men. Also he didn't use his power for himself, only for others. In that case it was for his friends, the discliples.

For a start, he was out fishing when that miracle happened.

Secondly, he didn't flaunt or abuse or show off his power; ever read the story of the devil tempting him in the desert?

JESUS referred to HIMSELF as " a fisher of men. " this is one reason why the early Christians used the fish as a symbol/sign they were Christians.
