NOOO!!!!!!! A 6 year old couldn't handle any kind of a shotgun! lol, even a handgun I'd be surprised.... I'm 13 and I can barely handle a shotgun (admittedly people younger than me do it easily...) Of course, my parents aren't setting the best example either... My Mom bought my neice a pink .22 rifle! lol, anyway, if anything a good thing for someone that age is a 22 rifle or something similar. Does your friend know how powerful a 12-gauge is? lol, anyway, Merry Christmas!
I hope this helped!

As a wife to an avid hunter and a mother of a 6 yr old son, I say NO WAY! That boy is way too young to fully understand hunting responsibilties and gun safety. I would say at 11 yrs old a 20 gauge for hunting purposes only. He should also be enrolled in the appropriate safety courses at that time as well.

Heavens no. I am a Webelo scout leader & the cub scouts in this country aren't even allowed to fire a simple BB gun without taking the proper safety course first. Our scouts didn't even have the chance to take & pass that course until they were 9! A shotgun is simply too dangerous & inapropriate for a child that young.

Way too young to start using guns, even under supervision from a responsible adult........ wait at least until he's 12-14, and only then if he's learn't how to act responsibly & can follow instructions from others.

Just get him a Cap gun, and tell him it's a real one
