Yes. Cats are prone to do this. They are sort of like springs, coiling tighter and tighter until... ZING, they snap and bounce around for a while.
Sometimes it is because the cat hears or senses something we cannot. Cats become very jumpy and excited when they hear a noise but do not know what it is from, which often causes the random running around.
But they're fine. Just enjoy the show!

Well you didnt give enough detail but assuming that she is a healthy..than this sounds perfectly normal..It sounds like what is called the "midnight crazies". They just go a little nutty and let off energy this way. It can happen any time during the day but my cat would do this at night..he would just get so playful and sit there and stare up at the ceiling meow and take off running off. It is quite amusing and cute!

You are so lucky to have a he11althy crazy cat. Sometimes when they get older they may slow down, yet it may just continue. Normal, cats are not normal by any means. They have an attitude, do what they want, eat what they want, drink what they want, play and sleep at there will. So you see have fun.
By the way, cats usually like ice cubes in there water. They can slomach cold water and like it. Somtimes they just play. Pingpong balls in a sink full of water may give them hours of fun. Cats are crazy in there own right and they will pull you righ in with them. Go with it, they do

Yes, it's normal. My cat used to do this when he was younger right before he'd go use his litter box. My Mom's cat does it afterwards. I kinda miss seeing mine do that, he's 16 years old now and doesn't run or play much at all any more.

my cat does the same thing and I think its absolutely adorable..sometimes it freaks me out tho, especially if I am sleeping and she is sleeping on me and then just spazzes and does 180's of the walls and what not...this same cat likes to play fetch if that says anything... Id say just be happy that you have an entertaining cat...merry christmas!
