I am sorry your German Shepherd is lost, I do hope you find him. Here are some suggestions. You would be wise to provide a bit more information than "male German Shepherd". How old is the guy, does he have a collar or lead, does he respond to a name?
Check with animal shelters, and your vet. Check and see if there is a web-site for lost and found critters, and place an ad in the paper, often most newspapers will carry a lost or found ad for free for a period of time. So you can place and ad and you can also check to see if some honest caring individual has found your dog, placed and ad and is waiting for you to contact them.
Hoping for good fortune for you and your pet.
