On Corporate aircraft the only time you will find a storage bottle is for emergency purposes, ex: landing gear extension and braking. These bottles are charged with nitrogen. There are 4 reasons a bottle will be discharged.
1. Manual discharge by the crew or maintenance personel.
2. Overservicing of the bottle. Lets say you are in very cold weather and the bottles are not in a heated hangar. The bottle gets charged to its max pressure and then the crew flies the acft to a hot weather location. Chances are the overpressure relief will open and deplete the bottle. (The relief valve should close once the bottle pressure is back with in limits)
3. Faulty relief valve
4. A system leak.

Actions for return to service:
_ As long as it was manualy discharged... reservice.
_ If discharged due to a leak... As long as the bottle did not sit empty...Fix leak and reservice.
_ If discharged do to relief valve opened or failed... Most O.E.M. will have you replace the bottle since moisture could have gotten inside the bottle an this will japardize the airworthiness of such component.
