Many Arabs who learn English start at a younger age than the average American who learns Arabic. It is a challenge both ways since both sides are learning a new alphabet system.

I've taken Arabic classes myself. The language isn't really as hard as most think once you get into it. It's phonetic, so once you learn your letters, you can pronounce many words. You don't have to deal with phonics the way you do in English. Mostly, people just get intimidated by the different alphabet and they let that stop them before they start.

Yes, there are Arabic letters that are hard to learn how to pronounce. But, also, many Arabs have difficulty pronouncing the letter p as there is no letter p in the Arabic alphabet. It sounds just like a b to many of them.

I am Arab and the reason we learn English easily is that all the worlds now speaks English. You name it TV shows internet music even our education is based on English. As if now I am writing in English I have to use the language rather I like it or not. However, you English ppl are not Forced to use the Arabic language so you practice Arabic less then we practice English. That’s y.

There must be many reasons, but I would think that a very important one is that many if not most Arabic speakers will have been exposed to written and spoken English via the media from a very early age, the same can't be said of English-speaking people. And it is terribly difficult to learn a new language when one also has to learn a new alphabet, pictograms, or similar.

Well niether way is easy, however I'll explain why it seems that way. English is becoming a predomanant language or secondary language in the World. Most of the major countries in the World teach it in more depth then The U.S. teaches Spanish in schools (not talking about college). Now you might be asking why is that.

It's because everything in the World revolves around the U.S. in one shape or form. (I'm not being concieted or anything like that; I'll explain).

The U.S. is the most materialistic country in the World and the Economic powerhouse. In other words we spend and spend and spend. Other countries know this about us, so buissness is good in the U.S. As for us being the economic power house it's easy to see. Most of the world currenies are pegged to the U.S. dollar (that means that know matter what the value of the dollar is it will always be worth the same amout of these counties currencies(chinnese currency is just one of the many currencies based off of the dollar). We also love to travel and spend money.

Now besides our economy we are also the military superpower of the World. along the same lines, our military is throughout the World again spending money.

The truth is there is not many places you can go in the World that you can't find at least a few people that can speak and understand English.

I have no experience of this, but I'd have thought it'd be harder for Arabics to learn English (We have all those weird rules about grammar, gender etc)m, tbh.

Having said that, I've no idea what the Arabic language is actually like.

The reason both English people and Arabic people would find each other's languages hard to understand is partly due to the different alphabetical system and reading style (We're left to right, while they're right to left).
