So here is the story, my friend married a girl who does not celebrate christmas, but they are having a "get together" tonight. Would it be taboo, to bring a "Festivus pole" as a joke? I think it is funny, but dont want to offend anybody. She is a Jehovah's witness, but festivus is more of a joke than anything right???

The original comedy routine which introduced "Festivus" to the public clearly lampooned the entire idea of holiday tradition. There seems little reason to assume that such a contemporary reference would offend a practicing Jehovah's Witness, especially if it unfolded as part of a joke.

Obviously, if "Festivus" ever does catch on as a seriously observed commemoration, it would be difficult to disconnect it from earlier pagan rites involving phallic worship.

If she watched Seinfeld it would great. If not it may fall flat as a joke. Give it a try.
