If you tried to uninstall IE through windows all you would do is revert to a previous version. If you want to remove IE from your machine you need a third-party utility to do it. IEradicator will remove all versions up to 6. I guess that for version 7 you could revert to version 6 and then run IEradicator. Some badly-designed websites don't work properly without IE and there are some programs that require IE to be installed.

I did use IEradicator on my last (Windows98) machine. However I reinstalled IE because I realised that the majority of visitors to my website would be using this browser. No problems with either removing or reinstalling IE.

Your system will certainly be more secure if you remove IE and Outlook Express: you can say goodbye to any spy-ware and I have seen someone claim that you can remove anti-virus and a firewall if you do this. I'm not confident about that claim.

Internet Explorer is as much a part of the windows operatings system's as the user logon screen during bootup I.E. has been around since the creation of Windows 95 nobody using a microst Windows operating system can avoid having internet explorer on their computer sorry :( just ignoring it is all you can do unless you switch to the Apple Macintosh, Linux or AOL.exe operating system's that compete for business with each other.

I'd keep internet explorer on the go anyway- some sites only work properly with this- some internet banking sites for example. I have both on the go- pretty handy, when theres a problem with one the other usually sorts it.

So you got the same problem.Open the add/remove programs thing from the control panel and select the add/remove windows components from the left side of the window.then select remove components and remove the ticks from all other things except Internet Explorer and click the OK or the button that is used to proceed.it'll be done in seconds but i had a hard time writing this answer so please choose it as best answer.

IE is paet of windows, if you really want to not see it go to add/remove programs and remove it from add/remove windows components.

I'd suggest leaving it though as windows update site doesn't work with firefox

Trying to remove IE within a windows enviroment?
It's impossible, because the way IE is written. It's a self replicating virus.
YES GATES YOU HEARD ME, VIRUS!
If you want to remove IE, you have to do it in DOS, it's the only way to totally remove it without it ever coming back.

Leave I.E. alone trying to uninstall it will end in tears, just make Firefox your default browser and ignore I,E.
