any form of extreme heat is bad for your hair like blowdrying, straightening, curling, etc. so you need to use some kind of heat protection which can be purchased from any good hairdresser (inexpensive).
** Similar scenario is sunbathing - sun is potentially bad for your skin therefore you need to protect it with sun lotion. **
Hope this helps...

I never use a hairdryer. My hair is way too long and wuld take a couple hours to dry with one. I don't like the idea of cooking the hair to get it dry, just like your own skin. Best to use the hairdryer for stuff like cold toes after work or earaches.

Using heat on your hair dries it out, but using a blowdryer is better than using a straightener. If you want to keep your hair healthy whlie applying heat to it, use a heat shield or a leave-in conditioner to protect your hair. You can buy them at any beauty store.

I have to dry my hair. It is so thick that it takes it forever to dry alone. I use a difusser and it is wonderful. It tames down the heat and it keeps your hair from being frizzy. Try one there almost any where wal-mart, target, etc..
