It is all in God's plan. Maybe God wants to show those people that the important thing is not the church building but rather the living Church, that built of living stones. BTW, what community would that be if they don't mobilise and save what can be saved before the whole church burns down. And where are the firefighters? And why wasn't there any lightning rod? It's so easy to blame God...
Bottom line is: A good thing can come out of everything that we perceive as bad. God loves us but everything turns to the good of those who love HIM. Merry Christmas to one and all!

I watched a church burn down after get hit by lighting once. That church refered to it as an "act of god" because it helped them get a new building to replace the original which had gotten pretty old.

"Acts of god" are all about perception.

In the sense that God is omnipotent and nothing can happen unless he allows it, Yes. However, nowhere in scripture does God say that only good things happen to His people and bad things only happen to bad people. He created the world with operating laws of physics - hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados all happen because that is the way the world operates. That doesn't mean that God specifically targeted the disaster site.
