I need to reduce my Lovan/Prozac. I am on 20mg per day, I need to go to nothing.

I am also taking Epilim 300mg per day, but I need to stay on these to stablise my mood.

How do I reduce the lovan/prozac safely?

What side effects can I expect from doing this?

Note: I have talked to my psycoligist, and we have decided this is the best thing to do for my health regarding the reaction to the meds I am having.

I won't even try to talk you into staying on this medication because once someone decides to stop there is nothing you can do so I'll just help you out in the best way that I can. I personally have stopped a medication just like this one. Prozac is an SSRI so you need to know that you will experience what is called SSRI discontinuation syndrome. Let me tell you what it feels like...
... pretty much crappy, like you have the flu or something. You might feel little tingles in your arms, head, tongue. You might feel dizzy when you move eyes. You will probably feel just down right sick and that will last for about a week or two. Since Prozac is a capsule then it's going to be really hard for you to break that down into smaller doses. You might want to first check and see if it's powered inside or if it's just a coated tablet. If it is just a coated tablet then you could just cut the 20mg into two pieces and take a half of a dose for a week and then go down from there. If it's powder inside then you probably don't want to break it and you'll just have to stop taking it without weaning off. 20mg is the lowest dose so there shouldn't be too much problem with just stopping the medication. Just be prepared for the withdrawals that I already mentioned. Hopefully it's not as bad as the zoloft. Good luck.

prozac is VERY scary. I would ask for lexapro instead. I never took it but it made my father worse than he was to begin with.
