Wow, there not just lies, but Spew-able Lies? That is disgusting.

You're not very specific here, but are you sure Religious people are lying? In order to be a lie, people have to know what they're saying is wrong, and say it in order to deceive others.

This probably applies to some televangelists and abusive clergy. But I don't think the members or the clergy of the local United Methodist, Baptist, and Roman Catholic churches are trying to deceive anybody. Who do you think is lying? The local ministers? The teaching staff at the Seminaries? The Pope?

And is it all branches of Christianity, or just a couple of denominations and independent congregations? If it's everybody, then why are the lies of the Seventh Day Adventists so different from the lies of the Quakers?

For most people, at some time in their lives, religion provides comfort, guidance, hope and purpose. I don't think trying to find those things, and trying to provide those things is a lie.

Now, if you have only been exposed to a fearful, lying congregation and/or clergyman, I think you owe it to yourself to at least learn about other religious traditions.

Keeping yourself ignorant by saying everything is a lie is actually lying to yourself.

I believe in God and I do not live in fear. It takes away fear.
As for those that want to say that Religion causes all wars that is just a lie. The Middle East fights over their religion and the Catholic Crusades were over religion. Hitler was an Atheist, Stalin and Mao were Atheists. The French and Indian wars, the Napoleonic wars the 100 year war between France and England, The Mexican and Spanish American wars, The Russo Japanese war, WWI, WWII, Vietnam (the French were there for years also) Korea, were all fought over non religious issues. Blaming religion for all is totally false and only done by those with a strong bias or sadly did not get much from their education.
As for the war in the Middle East right now, America is not there for any religious reason either. And last but not least, Melvinben-it is the Conservatives which are the ones that are willing to fight and try to do something about terrorism. The mostly Liberal based Atheists are the ones not willing to do anything about it.

A religion is 'made' up of humans gathered together and trying to figure out what qualifies to be a member, thus people lie to themselves and others in order to feel more comfortables with strangers. Since a religion is made up of humans it has little to do with 'faith', and is disqualified as a spiritual question. As to the matter of 'fears', you may look as the tendency to fear: drunk drivers, bicycles withoot padding for the rider, terrorism, poverty, hunger, the uneducated, the handicapped, another race, etc. It eventually boils down to a fear of dying, of not knowing whats 'on the other side" of life. I don't think people are necessarilly more fearful now, but information is moving faster than thought, making it look distorted and more open to communication of all our fears.

Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they used deceit; the posion of asps is under their lips; Whose mouth is full of cursing, and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There in no fear of God before their eyes. Romans 3:13

Ps 33:8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

The atrocities perprtrated by atheist governments tend to make me sick. I'll take the Christians over here in free world over Stalin and Mao and day of the week. Is it any coincidence that EVERY atheist experiment in creating a Utopian society ends in an assault on liberty?

If you believe in our true Savior why would you be fearful? Knowing that God can/does save you from an eternity in hell is a reason to celebrate not be fearful. Yes, I will admit to being afraid I won't have enough time left on this earth to help more of my family and friends see the light but being fearful of our God and Savior - NEVER.

I believe people like to belong to groups - makes them feel more comfortable. Groups, like religions, explore our basic inner fears. I think we should try and think things out for ourselves if possible. We are often a bit lazy and join or accept or appear to accept the joined group rules but I guess many people in groups doubt the rules from time to time. Does this help you?

im not religious but believe religion could be helpful to society as a whole if it was done w/o such hate, judgement, and socail scorn. Hehe but we dont live in a perfect world. So religion causes more harm than it does good. Its a really fun game to play. Its like real life Risk(the game).
