Yes you are right.
When I was teaching religion to 5th graders in a Catholic school, i asked the students where Jesus was from. I had several answers including USA, London, and Rome.
The truth is most Christians have not even read the Bible, especially us Catholics. Those of us who have actually read it know Jesus was not white.
I am currrently living in India, and even here Jesus is portrayed as white with blue eyes.
The best film the depicts a closer level (probably nto quite dark enough) was Passion of the Christ. Mel did a good job with the film .

artists' conception. When a movie is made, the actor to play jesus is chosen acc. to what the director, producer, and studio wants to see as jesus. Also, what will be accepted most by middle america. We have the bible belt here, and jesus has to resemble someone they will accept. People accept easily a diety that is portrayed in their own image, if you get what I am trying to say. I was raised catholic, and polish catholic. There would not have been a dark skinned image hanging in my grandma's home. It had to be the european version with the blonde hair and blue eyes, similar to what a polish man of the time might have looked like. See, easily more accepted if it looks like who we are.
But...even in saying that, the mel gibson movie has turned that around a bit now. His jesus was portrayed darker skinned, darker haired. A bit at a time, the reality of who jesus really was will come through.

Unfortunately, it is human nature to try to force things to fit into our comfort zones. Since most of the artwork depicting Jesus that our society is familiar with was done European males, they tended to depict Jesus in a manor familiar and comfortable to them. But I ask you this, why focus only on the depiction of his race? He was Carpenter by trade, a job demanding much physical strength back then due to the lack of machinery to do the lifting, and other other labor demanding jobs. Yet he is portrayed as thin and weak, even fragile some might say

i agree his skin color was more likely olive or brown from that region most ideas of jesuses color come from early artist portrayal which where they were at,,, and the time they did it ,,,,
there models,,and or communitys in which they lived were likely primarilary white or they themselves were white
i just think now a spirit has and needs not the physical human form or color and todays society should be able to accept the fact ,,,and not need human form because we are a little smarter now and not afraid to see him in true form ,,,,but some cultures may still be more comfortable with a jesus or god in physical human form

do no longer cut back the hair on the factors of your head or clip off the perimeters of your beard. ~ Leviticus 19:27 do no longer think of that I easily have come to abolish the regulation or the Prophets; I easily have not come to abolish them yet to fulfill them. ~ Matthew 5:17 (Jesus Christ) If Christ got here to fulfill the regulation then he could have adhered to the regulation in Leviticus and for this reason does not have cut back the hair on the factors of his head or clip off the perimeters of the beard. He had no attractiveness or majesty to allure to us to him, no longer something in his visual allure that we could desire to consistently want him. ~ Isaiah fifty 3:2 The scripture above is prophesying approximately Christ. So what ever Christ gave the impression of as a guy he replaced into no longer pleasing or acceptable in visual allure. God purposely did no longer demonstrate Jesus' finished visual allure in scripture so as that it does not reason conflict between races and peoples appearances. God is love no longer arrogance.

Jesus's depiction changes depending upon where in the world you are. In America and other "anglo-centric" countries, he is portrayed with blue eyes, in Italy & Spain, he is portrayed as having brown eyes. In Latin American countries he is portrayed as having brown eyes and brown skin.

Maybe all the actors are white? I don't know.
And there's a prophesy that says he's supposed to be "uncomely," eg, not handsome, right? Then why is he always handsome? I guess it's just the way people want to see him. Does it matter? I don't see how. Have a nice day!
