Do they get an honorable discharge just like an enlisted man, or something else?

He becomes an E-5, serves out the end of his required service, and is discharged like any other E-5. Some officers resign their commission so that they can attend flight school and become a warrant officer. I have met several that have done so. I was unaware of this until I was attending a CW3's retirement ceremony and he was wearing Captain rank on his uniform.

Depends upon whether they have completed their obligated service or not. If they have completed it, they will receive an honorable discharge and the thanks of a grateful country. They may be offered a commission in the Reserves, particularly if there is a shortage of officers with their skill set.

If they have not completed their service requirement, they will be commissioned in the Reserves (or if already in the Reserves they will be taken off active duty and put into reserve status).
