There's always hope, but what you need is personal strength. If not for yourself, at least for your children.

You need to take a good look at your expenses and find everything that can be cut out (no matter how much it may hurt) No cigarettes, alchohol, cell phones, new toys for the kids, you might want to cancel cable T.V. if you're that desperate. If there's nothing to left to cut and you still can't make ends meet, you have to bring in more income. Try looking for a better paying job, working more hours at the job you have, or even getting a second part-time job.

You need to worry about not living paycheck to paycheck before you worry about your credit. Once you've got some money saved up (enough to last 3 to 6 months in an emergency) you should start working on paying down your debts. After that, you can save up for a house.

And just a small, mental exercise. To get control of your money, you need to take responsibility for your money and debts. Your beginning statement said you filed bankruptcy due to a bad marriage. STOP thinking about it that way. That's putting the blame for your debt on your marriage and your spouse and that's not taking responsibility. YOU filed bankruptcy. No one made you do it. Own up to it and move past it. You must respect your money to take control of it and pawning your past failures off on someone else isn't respecting your money.

Good luck.

If you can't afford to buy milk for your children and may end up homeless, you should not be worrying about your credit or when you can afford to buy a house, and start worry about managing your own budget.
It is important for you to live within your means until you are able to get out of debt. There are non-profit credit counselling agencies who can help you.
