I think you need to read the story in context. Why did Jesus do what he did. He honoured his mother. There is more to it than that.

At a Jewish wedding during the time of Jesus it was considered the utmost importance to honor the guests and part of this was ensuring that they had enough to eat and drink and the Groom would have been very shamed if these things were in short supply,Mary having noticed this wanted to save the Groom from great embarrassment and this is why She asked Her Son to help.
I hope you do not run out of booze whenever you get married, as water just will not cut it.

I don't understand the parallel of Jesus pleading for his life and turning water into wine????
But since God Almighty is a happy God, Jesus showed the power of holy spirit to bring a measure of happiness to a wedding. Similarly are we not also in a courtship with God??

You speak as though Jesus turned the oceans to wine. Well your scientists say wine is very healthy. Jesus did this once at a wedding feast as requested by His mother.A nice gesture.

Perhaps 2000 years ago, wine can be used because it was too rare for people to get intoxicated, and they didn't have sufficient energy for warming.
Spiritual laws are eternal, while social laws continuously change. That is why, the Messenger of God for our time has forbidden the drinking of wine.

Moses was not the Son of God. Turning water into wine was just one of the many miracles that the Son of God did.
