It's from 'Gabrielle, Antony, Alison and James'. Who the heck are they? They've put my first name on the card so I know it is to me but I'm stuffed if I remember them. They have, however, put their address inside the card. So - Xmas card etiquette - do I reply to them (a) thanking them and wishing them well, or (b) thanking them and asking who the heck they are, or (c) ignoring them and hoping they will go away?

I would send one to them. It is good manners. I would not add "and just who the FECK are you gits anyway?"
And my personal message until the BIG day:
A Merrily barking mad, wickedly happy Christmas to everyone who celebrates!
Charles "That Cheeky Lad"
Example I gave an unused, unneeded tele to an elderly lady, friend of friends. I got a card from her "Elizabeth" I had no bloody idea who it was until I started asking round. She made no mention of the tele at all. She had already thanked me by phone. I knew her as Lib but did not make the connection.

I had a similar scenario last year. The card that came to my house was clearly not for me and the address had been changed quite a few times. I managed to locate who I think the card was supposed to go to by looking on the electoral register (192.com) and comparing part of the address with their names. I sent it on with a little Christmas message inside. Therefore, I would suggest that you do (a) and send them a card and wish them well.

If in doubt, DON'T!. Does the address mean anything to you? Don't be fooled by what you think is xmas cards etiquette. By replying you're giving them an invitation to have more contact with you. Find out for yourself who they really are!

lol oh well
they remember you
send them a card thanking them but politely tell them you just can't place them as you know so many people that you tend to forget every single person when you have not seen them for a while
and say your life is so busy can they help you put them back in your memory as i bet you really do know them and this could be the case

merry xmas

Maybe it's for someone with the same name who had the house before you. Maybe someone went down the Electoral Register, picking out names to send cards to. Ignore it this year, but if it happens again next year, then you can write.

You could answer, saying you're a crack-head, don't remember them, but what the heck? Happy Christmas to all and sundry.
