Dorset as far as i remember

If you talking about Police Areas ... its Dorset Police. Altho' prior to about 1974 the Dorset and Bournemouth police came from when the Dorset Constabulary merged with the Bournemouth Borough Police, covering the county borough of Bournemouth which was previously considered part of Hampshire

Bournemouth was traditionally in Hampshire, but was later grouped with its neighbouring Poole and placed in Dorset instead. However, about ten years ago it became a 'unitary authority', and is therefore strictly speaking not in any county for administrative purposes (although remains for ceremonial purposes in Dorset).

This all seems rather strange, but in fact many towns which sit on the border of two counties have changed sides in the course of history.

If you mean Bournemouth it is in Dorset. At one time it was in Hampshire but there has been boundary changes.
Happy Christmas.
