when a person is born the doctors cut the umbilical cord. i understand what it's for during pregnancy but what is the function of a belly button after birth? what is it contected to?

It has no function after birth once the cord stump falls off at a week or so old. Its just a scar really.

I was once told that the belly button is to hold all your insides in.
Don't believe that somehow.
Other uses are for it to collect fluff.
But the real answer is that it is just what is left once the umbilicus is cut and fallen off, there is no real use for it but don't you think we would look funny without one?

The belly button is where the cord use to be. It doesn't have a use anymore.

it's for chavs to get pierced, and to put cheap gold rings in so that they can show off. They can wear those little cut off T-shirts and show their pudgy bellies that are hanging over their too-tight jeans. Basically, it is so the rest of us can be revolted by the sight of it.

yes its just the remains of the cord where it was attached to your body it serves no purpose now except some folk on here says it gather fluff

it is attached to your orgasmic system. If you put your finger into your belly button and jiggle it you will feel similar sensations you get when you're having an orgasm.

It is a button, like any other. No screwdriver required; undo your belly-button and your bum WILL fall off!

Deep inside your belly button is a little screw. If you put a screwdriver in it (flat head, not Phillips) and turn it your bottom will fall off.
