The private party only had the valet key not the original. Is there a way to get the original key? I have to unlock the doors in order to open the trunk because the valet key doesn't work to unlock the trunk.

call your nearest dealer with your Vin # and the key will be ready when you get there [ be prepared to show proof of ownership ,title, registration etc].

Wow Volvo's are a pita to get serviced and also hard to find parts for.

Find a Volvo dealer and take the car to them. They can cut a key with the VIN and if not they can use a soft key to cut another key.

I worked in the auto repair field for many years and I refused to work on Volvo's.

Buy a manual for it like a Haynes etc.

Find a dealer with an on line parts department because your going to need it before long.

Hope you don't think I'm being rude by by replay. I'm being honest.

Go to a Volvo dealership's parts department with your VIN (number) and proof of ownership, they can order a key.

-or- second choice -- go to a locksmith.
