Of what use are our prayers, praise and hymns to God, anyway? Isn't he powerful enough without us telling him he's so good?

Did he makes us humans just so he could listen to us grovel to him and suck up to him?

and the problem with everyone who says that god, like you or i, loves to hear the ones he loves say "i love you," are mistaken, because you (we, anyone) did not create our loved ones. christians often miss the point of this question. GOD CREATED MAN, GAVE HIM FREE WILL, and then sat around waiting for man to CHOOSE god... this implies that god NEEDS our validation... otherwise, he would just make us all like him, believe in him etc. or, he'd kill us immediately.

EDIT:
the very fact that one could believe that god could feel appreciative implies that they believe that he didn't already know that you would choose him. like he was surprised by your choice... "who, me? why, i dunno what to say... gaarrrrrrsh..." but that cannot be, he is omniscient after all...

God wants us to fully know Him as He knows us. He loves us and when you love someone you want them to love you back. But, He deserves all our praise, worship, love, adoration, etc. If we really understood a tenth of how great He is and how much he loves us we would be stuck dumb if not die of shock. Why shouldn't we praise Him?

I agree with get a clue except would like to say that Jesus is Holy God became a man and on the cross bore all our filthy abominable sins for us. What a God that He would do that for us! In the beginning was God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit (I get that from John 1:1-3,14, Genesis 1, and many other scriptures.)

Why do you think God needs us? Is what you said a reason to praise God? Has it dawned on you that you might be asking for it by asking questions in the way you're asking them? I would at least consider what an all powerful being can choose to do with his power.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

And that's just after you die, imagine what God could do to you while you're still alive if you don't repent. I mean while you're thinking up questions like this.

Prayer is a form of remembering Him...

It's not that He needs us, we need Him.

And the only way we can really get close to Him is by praying.

It's not that we need to constantly praise or validate Him in our prayers. I know that i don't praise Him constantly. Nor do i validate Him because that's already done.

Look, it's just a means of comfort and closeness and security.

God doesn't need us.

By us getting close to Him, we are just... comforting ourselves.

He provides solace.

He creates us because He is love. How can a Being be a lover without any object of love.
He teaches us to praise Him in order that we can realize our special station over all other created things. Without the education for a supreme purpose, where comes the idea of sublimity.
Of course, His Revelation in hundreds of Holy Books is far greater beyond my shallow opinions.

I don't think that God needs us to praise although I'm sure he values it. Praise from us, to me, gives God the appreciation that he needs to continue blessing a world that continues to trash him. Also, I think that when you think about God, you should realize that the human mind is not capable of comprehending God's motives and plans. We can only evaluate God by relating him to what we know about humans, but he is not human.

God wants to us to spend time with him. He wants us to get to know him more and wants us to pray and let him know what we are going through. He is the all knowing and powerful God but the thing is, we need to have faith. Our faith is being tested everyday. Just because he created the world and knows us like the back of his palm, what were thinking and doing, it doesn't mean he does not have feelings. He wants us to show him our love and to think of him as well. He sacrificed his son JC to die for us. JC was human like us and came here, tempted and struggling like we do on a daily basis. He continuously prayed to his own father. He knew he had to sacrifice himself but he loved us sooo much. The ones that cricified him were even forgiven by JC who said "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Can anyone else have such love for anyone? We would all be d****ned if it weren't for JC. This is what I truly believe. We can be idols of money, celebrities, false gods...but God wants a share of our time. He did sacrifice his son so we would have a choice...the bridge to salvation.

People will worship something no matter what, whether it be money, fame or other. I worship God because He is worthy of it, and if you worship someone perfect, you strive to be like Him. God knows this. If you worship money, you will be greedy, dishonest, and will crush anything that gets in your way to have it.

God doesn't need us. God doesn't need us to praise or worship him/her (Why is god described always as male?)

It is us, the ordinary humans who invented god, the ultimate answer for our problems, questions and dreams. It is the religions' establishments which force us for praying and worshiping, in order to extend their power.

Believe me, nothing will happen, neither for the best nor for the worst, if we stop praying and worshiping any god. We - the humans - must start believing in our power and should take control our life.
