Nah, just a red light comes on and then the whole thing turns off again, I had just formatted the memory card ready for chrimble....dohhhhh The Praktica website is horrendous and moves at the speed of a barnacle :-)

just put new batterys in it

It could mean that the camera is on. I had a camera burn batteries quickly if I left it on. The only way I knew it was on was from the light or the shutter was closed (the same switch controled both).

On my camera,a Minolta, the red light comes on when the camera is getting ready for the next shot. When the camera is ready the red light goes off. You take the shot and the red light comes on again until it is again ready.

almost for certain low battery, it would be best to take the batteries out while not in use.

remove the lens cap! before switching on.
