for 2 years i was with my girlfriend, i got a bit needy and she pulled away.. a week after our 2 year anniversary she broke up with me.. how do you get over someone that you were so certain you were going to spend the rest of your life with? how do you go on knowing that you gave everything in that relationship just to have it blow up in your face?

Aw, this made me so sad! I'm really sorry that you have to go through this. I know that heartbreak is one of the worst feelings in the entire world. And I do think a year and four months is a very significant amount of time. After all, many people get married after seeing each other for only a year. How to carry on though,,it's hard to say. I think the best thing to do is keep yourself occupied. Go out and see your friends. Go see a movie you've wanted to see for a while. Buy yourself something cool :) It's all about keeping busy and doing things that you can enjoy alone or with friends. Maybe then you'll realize how nice it is to be in control of your life and to only be responsible for yourself. Take this time to heal, and don't worry. It'll get better :) As for her reasoning, she clearly was not right for you if her love for you was only based on your looks. A little weight gain should not change her feelings towards you. Sure, she might feel less attracted to you, but attraction is not even that important after you establish a real relationship. Don't get hung up about this!

I've been there, done that. Twice. Do this and I promise it will work: Get rid of anything you can that reminds you of her, and whatever you do do not call her! If she calls you, proceed with extreme caution! The key is cutting down communication and reminders. That plus find things to do, no matter how small, to occupy time! Good luck!

If you give all your emotional eggs to a human being you will be disappointed every single time for all humans will fail you. It isn't a matter of if just when. I am sorry you put all your hope and trust in humans. I don't I give my eggs to someone who will not break them.
