50 dollars an hour. Depends where you are though? NYC or LA or big city like that then yes 50 is good amount to ask for. Small town? then maybe not. It also depends on if its an open bar or not. You need to establish if you are going to be tipped by the 'customers' as you would in a regular bar. If you are going to work on tips only I wouldnt do it. I did this once and got royally screwed! I gave up my night thinking it was going to be great money. I mde 80 bucks in tips and the host of the party threw me a 20 and a happy new year! 100 dollars for 6 hours work on new years eve!! Never again.

Depending on the guest list number and where the function is held. Like caterers, charge by the head count.
100 people: $5.00 per
75 people: $6.50 per
50 people: $6.00 per.....and keep it at that if lower numbers
Be sure to request a 17% gratuity....get paid "before" the celebration or at least write up an agreement...

Depends on if he/she is excepting tips. Considering this person is giving up their own new years celebration, I would expect to make $300 plus.
