Have you considered trying a long, warm hug from someone who really cares about you?
Even if, at the end of it, your cold has not left you, atleast you have had fun trying!!
And, many cheers for the season!!

I just got over my cold...
As soon as you start to feel a cold coming on, you should start taking LOTS of Vitamin C.
I started taking 1000 Mg every 2-3 hours and this seemed to help.
The post-nasal drip seemed to last longer... being worst the end of the first and most of the second day. By the fourth day, I was just stuffed up, the fifth day, the stuffiness was already getting better, the sixth day it was almost gone and completely fine the seventh day at which point I went back to only taking 1000Mg of Vitamin C per day again.
I suppose that anything that builds your immune system up would be good to take along with the Vitamin C and would speed up your recovery. Eat lots of oranges, Pomegranites and other vitamin rich fruits. Take echinachea and zinc.
All of these things together should have a greater effect than just taking the vitamin C.
Also, with the vitamin C, it is good to space out the vitamin C, not too much at one time that is why I took it 1000Mg every 2-3 hours. Also, if you start to get diarhea, back off of the Vitamin C a little and adjust the dosage that you are taking.
Hope you are feeling much better soon...

We have all had it down here in Cornwall. Trouble is, it is one of those ones that seem to go and then comes back. You are looking at least ten days if it is the same as we have had. The best way to relieve symptoms is Paracetamol to help the aches, this will also dry up your nose and Vitamin C in large doses. Hot water, honey and half a Crushed lemon in a cup is great, 4 times a day. You can of course buy lemsip but they are a bit expensive. Make your own with the honey is nicer and a lot cheaper. Happy Christmas.

Hi Louise....Here is a quick remedy to help you get over your cold. However it wont cure it as it is best to combat the symptoms as soon as you feel them coming on, but this does work and it will help you even though you are currently feeling awful!
Fill a mug with boiled water and into the mug put a small slice of fresh garlic along with a slice of fresh ginger, to this then add a slice of lemon squeezed as well) and finally add a spoonful of honey.
It definitely works but be careful not to use too much garlic as it will taste like pure garlic that you are drinking if you do!
It takes away aches and pains and your head wont get stuffed up and blocked.
Also try rubbing a small bit of tiger balm across your forehead....it feels like you have a cold burn after a minute but it clears your sinuses.
Another tip is to place your thumbs on either side of your face at your nostrils and to place pressure here...it hurts!.....then after a 30 seconds follow the lines of your cheekbones up to the top of your ears. This unblocks your sinuses....It is painful but it does work!
Hope you are feeling better soon and Happy Christmas!

I usually sniff (i.e. nose wash) two or three times a day from a glassfull of a mixture of very salty warm water mixed with a table spoon of a strong spirit like vodka or brandy. Burns like hell but kills the cold in 48 hours, specially if applied as soon as the cold starts.
