Christmas Holly Treats
Work fast, it's hot! Hint 1: Buy generic corn flakes at the $1 store! Hint 2: If the "berries" don't stick on the "holly", put the cold holly in the microwave for 20 sec. (on waxed paper) and then add the berries.
5 cups corn flakes 3 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon green food coloring 1 (10 ounce) package regular marshmallows (or 4 C. minis) 1/2 cup red-hot candies
1. Melt butter in a 3 quart saucepan on Low.
2. Add the marshmallows and melt completely - keep stirring.
3. Add the green food coloring - keep stirring.
4. Lower heat to Warm.
5. Add corn flakes and mix until they are all green.
6. Drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper to create the "holly".
7. While each holly is still warm, add 3 Red-Hots as the berries (see Hint 1 at top if berries don't stick).
8. Repeat until all the holly is on the waxed paper.
9. Let cool and remove from waxed paper. Put on a party plate and enjoy!

Oreo Cookie Balls
1 reg. size package of Oreo cookies, not the bigger size.
1 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened at room temperature
white chocolate (called bark, melting chocolate...can find everywhere right now)
Put the the oreo cookies in a plastic bag and crush them finely, or possibly you can use a food processor. You'll probably want to do half the cookies at a time.
Then thoroughly mix the cookies and the cream cheese. Shape into balls the size of a walnut, about an inch across. Put them on a cookie sheet, then into the freezer while you melt the chocolate. This will make it easier to dip the balls.
Melt the white chocolate in the microwave in a small mixing bowl. Do NOT USE IRONSTONE. You need the bowl to be small enough to have the chocolate deep enough to dip the balls. Follow the directions on the bag, usually about 1 1/2 mins. for 4 "cubes or blocks".
Using a toothpick, dip each ball into the white chocolate, letting the excess drip off for a few seconds, then place on wax paper or aluminum foil.
Allow about an hour for them to be totally set, then store in covered container in refrigerator.
They'll be fine for several hours on the table.
Enjoy! They're delicious.

Turtle candy
Take a cookie sheet and line it with alum foil (shiny side up) spray lightly with cooking spray. Place 3 pecan halves on sheet in the shape of a Y. Place an unwrapped caramel (I use Kraft) on the pecans. Put in a 300 degree oven for about 9 min. Check it, you don't want the carmels to melt completely. I like to just soften them so that you can take a spoon and just flatten it out a little bit. Melt 3/4 cup of choc chips (I like milk choc) with about 1 tsp of shortening. Put a spoonful on each turtle and cover the carmel. You could then top with holiday sprinkles.
note: if the carmels start to spread and move the nuts just push them back together. This recipe makes about 24-36 you can adjust as necessary

How about brownies? They're super-easy, and almost everyone likes them.
Just buy a box of Baker's brand unsweetened baking chocolate and follow the recipe on the back of the box.
If you want them to be more special and creative, try adding peppermint extract instead of vanilla and topping them with crushed candy cane pieces.
